Summer Game Fest 2026 just gave MMORPG fans exactly what they wanted to hear. On June 5, developer NCSOFT dropped a brand-new AION 2 Launch Reveal Trailer and officially confirmed that the highly anticipated game is launching globally in September 2026. The game already dropped in South Korea and Taiwan back in November 2025, where it was a massive critical and commercial success. Now, the rest of the world finally gets their turn. The Big Launch DetailsWhile we don't have an exact release day just yet, we know it's hitting sometime in September 2026. Here is a quick breakdown of what to expect for the global rollout: PC Exclusive: Unlike some regional versions, the global release is entirely exclusive to PC. You'll be able to grab it worldwide on both Steam and NCSOFT’s own PURPLE launcher. Global Servers: NCSOFT is setting up dedicated servers across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, so latency shouldn't be an issue. Language Support: The game client will fully support 10 languages at launch, including English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean.
How the Gameplay is LookingAccording to developer previews from the Summer Game Fest Play Days, AION 2 is doing a great job of honoring the legacy of the original game while refreshing the core gameplay loop for modern standards. First off, the signature aerial combat system is back, but it's been reworked. Instead of just using wings to fly from point A to point B, you have full freedom of flight deeply integrated directly into actual combat encounters. If you live for PvP, there's going to be plenty to do. The game is packing everything from 1v1 duels and 4v4 team battles to 8v8 battlefields and massive, cross-server Realm-vs-Realm clashes. Fans of the original will also be happy to hear that the faction-contested Abyss region is making a return. On the customization side, the character creator looks incredibly deep, boasting over 200 options. There is also a dedicated "Style Shop" feature where you can browse and download aesthetic profiles shared by other players in the community. Plus, if you like collecting things, the developers have promised more than 200 collectible pet-mount hybrids to hunt down.
